What do we See?

I've looked at this 2009 photo before---memories of an afternoon spent at the Arizona Botanical Desert Gardens together with Rob. This morning I returned to the photo again. This time I saw something I had never seen before. In the top left corner I noticed a heart in the vegetation. It seemed so clear. How could I have missed it? I was amazed!

What do we see in life? Do we look at people and places with eyes of love or judgement? peace or hostility? joy or discontent? hope or fear? trust or distrust? promise or regret? forgiveness or bitterness? gratitude or emptiness? unity or differences? light or darkness? serenity or sorrow?

God invites us into a more mindful way of being where we see God's love, peace, joy, hope and promise at work in our lives and in the world around us. -sm
